What does it mean to "snap" green beans? - mean green cleaner degreaser
I have a recipe that calls for the cleaning and the "modification" of green beans. What does this mean?

Buy beans for the fresh, washed, and gently bend at each end, until the end of the bankruptcy proceedings.

Terry J has really the right answer, and when I was a kid, I sat in the back porch during the hot afternoon break green beans, which had taken the day before. My grandmother and great-grandmother, canned or frozen, so they have fresh green beans in winter.
So many stories of the family again and again, we shared great sitting on the porch talking, laughing and snapping beans! How I wish that life could be so again!
Remove broken kernels with your fingers and peel the ends of the strings from the beans, then break into small pieces, snap back or break into pieces with one click. Old beans bendable. Fresh beans actually clicks.
If you look closely, there is a small part of the chain hanging from the sides. To remove just a knife, cut the corn to another slot to the inside. Do not cut all the way and then things would have to peel away. It's easier than it sounds, but I can take you in the right words, without there.
Breaks both ends and pull out the threads. then break into small pieces. green beans are not chains. They know when to break them.
Break both ends so you can before cutting and cooking channel
Repeat the ends of both sides before cooking.
To reduce the final status would be my guess ...
